We went to the PADI website and it was a very well designed beautiful website. What this company does is offer Professional Scuba Diving Courses. These course start at the beginning level which can be taken online up to the most advanced certifications.

The cost for the PADI Online Open Water Diver Course is $120.00 and is non refundable. This fee covers training and knowledge development and gives you access to the Open Water Diver Manual which is their online course textbook. You can get all the bookwork done online. But before you get officially certified, you will need to go to your local PADI Dive Center or Resort. Once you get there, you will need to pay additional fees and complete the rest if your certification requirements in the ocean.

You will also need to bring a Diving Mask, Snorkel, a good set of Diving Fins and you're also responsible for all of your own Diving Equipment. If you are unsure of what you need to bring with you I'd recommend dropping by your local PADI Dive Center and ask them before you go out and purchase a bunch of equipment for your Dive. Wearing a wetsuit is generally something you want to avoid when scuba diving since you want full range of movement. Unfortunately, not all of us can live in the warm waters of the Caribbean. We have no choice on the matter, so finding the perfect wetsuit is critical to getting the most out of your dives.

The first thing to understand about wetsuits is a maddening fact. The companies producing the suits do not use the same exact sizes. This means you need to refer to the sizing chart each company puts out. Without it, you are just flying in the dark. Since trying on wetsuits takes a bit of effort, you really want to make it as simple as possible by using the directions in the sizing chart. Yes, this is inherently against the genetic makeup of all men!

The second step is to go for the right fit. The goal here is to have a snug fit all over. It may be restricting and even a bit uncomfortable out of the water, but the bouncy in the ocean will free things up. Loose wetsuits should be avoided like the plague. They let water in and, in cold currents, that can be a real constant adrenaline rush. On the other hand, you want to avoid wetsuits that look like they are painted on. You'll be uncomfortable and your movement will be restricted to the point you will look more like a cork bobbing in the water than a diver.

Okay, you've read the chart and found a suit that would seem to be a good choice. Now what? Well, suits come in two types – full body and two pieces. Whatever your choice, the best approach is to always work from the bottom up. This means putting the suit on over your legs and working up. Get help with a one piece as most will zipper up the back. Nothing is worse then getting your hair stuck in the zipper of a suit you don't even own!

Once the suit is on, take it for a stroll. The suit should fit you snugly and contour to your body. You should be able to breathe with only a slight pressure. Your legs and arms should be held snuggly, but not enough to make anything go numb! Walk around for at least five minutes to get a real feel for the fit.

So, will this give you the perfect wetsuit for diving? No. It will give you something as close to perfect as you can get off the rack. If you are going to be diving a lot, it is well worth your money to get some tailoring done. Yes, you can get the wetsuit fitted to your frame. We all have different bodies, so every wetsuit is going to have an area where it doesn’t fit well. A wetsuit tailor can fix this with a minimum of fuss and turn a good fit into a great one.

The most annoying problem I encounter when treating a patient with frozen shoulder is boredom. They are ready to do nearly anything short of cutting off their arm to get shot of the agony and return function at least that is what they are saying to my face in this all critical first visit.

"Do you believe going to a chiropractor would help me more?" has been another query on more than one occasion. "Not always, sir" is the answer followed by "their are numerous techniques to treating your stiff shoulder, almost all of which are good, but the main thing is that you are somewhere taking action".

Now I am not attempting to sound like a "self-help" guru, but taking daily action is the comprehensive critical primary step somebody with frozen shoulder can do to help speed recovery.

Regardless of favored belief, just resting the shoulder only makes it more stiff and unpleasant when you have to move it. Now the next most significant step is to avoid making it worse. Now as I just wrote the prior line, I'll just about here the sarcasm loaded answer of thousands of surfers as one says "ya think?" However this isn't as manifestly straightforward as it appears. You see, in the world of wounds and recovery, my other half is commonly known as a "tester". If she happens to have an injury like a distressing shoulder, neck, etc then every day no, many times each day she "tests" that injury to work out if it hurts . For example if reaching overhead pinches or wounds her shoulder, she is going to repeat this movement during the day to work out if "it's getting any better". The point of all this is to emphasise that if you chance to be a type "A" personality, then bulling your way thru the day using your distressing shoulder isn't the answer.

This is not to say that you'll not feel agony during the day during explicit frozen shoulder exercise, as you definitely will. The significant idea here is to realize the difference between "damaging" discomfort and "non-damaging" discomfort. Damaging agony is usually described with words like "sharp", "tearing", "nerve pain", and "shooting".

Most of the people mechanically stop when running into damaging agony ( though some low-pain-threshhold folk will push through damaging discomfort ). Actually there are plenty of more words to explain these 2 sorts of discomfort, but these are the ones I have run into over thousands of patient visits over time.

His interest in the under-water world sparked through recreational diving, Ron Vermeltfoort was looking for “a ticket to the next level.”

He found it many years ago in the commercial diving course at Seneca College’s King City campus. Graduation from the comprehensive program led to a career path under the sea that he followed for six to seven years before returning to London, Ontario, to work as a firefighter.

Most of Ron’s work was up and down the British Columbia coast, among the Queen Charlotte Islands and off Vancouver Island. There, he dove for the seafood industry, harvesting horse clams, geoduck clams, sea cucumbers and sea urchins, usually at depths of 20 to 60 feet. Most of those products were exported to Japan, whose own seafood industry had been damaged by over-harvesting.

Many of the clams were embedded in the bottom of the ocean, with just the tip visible. The divers were equipped with a high-pressure water jet to free the clams from the bottom. They were collected and then hoisted up by crane to the surface.

“We’d stay down for three hours straight, take a break and then go back down for another three hours,” Ron recalls.

Those long periods under water were made possible by what is known as “surface supplied diving.” Unlike recreational divers, commercial divers don’t carry an air tank on their backs. The air supply is on the surface, either on a dock or a boat, and is pumped down to the diver. It provides an unlimited supply of air and enables divers to be more mobile. “We were often walking around on the bottom.”

“It was a strange environment. There were eels and sharks, but for the most part the sharks were small enough that they were not a huge threat.”

Of greater concern were the currents and tides they worked in. The captain of the dive ship kept the divers informed about them, using either radio communications or line signals. The latter involved pulling on the diver’s line. Two pulls would mean something, three pulls something else, and there were short pulls meaning something different again. The divers would return the signals from the bottom.

In Ontario, he worked for an engineering company that rebuilt government wharfs. This involved salvage work, underwater welding and taking videos of underwater structures needing repair. “We did videos of the structures underwater to analyse where the weakest points were.”

Another career option for divers, of course, is becoming an instructor.

Ron finished his commercial diving career in 1992 after thousands of hours under water. He rarely dives now and says if he did, it would be “anywhere south where the visibility is better.”

He doesn’t regret his years spent working under the sea. “It’s (commercial diving) seasonal, but there’s still work out there for divers. You’re at sea for three or four weeks at a time. For a single guy it’s a good job and it paid well.”

One one person died of a Shark Attack in the year 2007. And in 2008 there were only 4 people. The media likes to really scare people about these, so much so it makes people afraid to go swimming in the Ocean. The chances of you getting struck by lightning are about 15x larger.
