What are my possibilities in getting admitted in MIT?

I come from Venezuela, but with English nationality . i have a 3.8 GPA. and i haven't done the SAT yet but i am looking forward to it...I consider myself a very extracurricular student doing: Tennis, piano, golf, french and scuba diving all in an advanced level, but golf.... I really don't need financial aid , i don't know if that can be a plus... and actually i expect applying also in CAL TECH and yale......but still my dream always has been MIT.... I think my GPA isn't that high for a university that prestigious but the problem is that the time i lived in Venezuela my school was very strict in academical meanings and my grades even if i tried couldn't improve....but then the time i lived here in the United States my Grades have been almost perfect. Please i need to know what are my chances and what can i do to raise them, specialized courses, ....i don't know....

It may work to your advantage that you are from Venezuela. And frankly speaking, a 3.8 GPA is not bad even by MIT standards. MIT students tend to be really strong in one or two academic areas, but may be average to a bit above average in other areas. With that being said, the GPA of a typical MIT admitted student rarely is higher than yours. You definitely seem like a wordly person, which would add to MIT's community (From a different country, bilingual, scuba-diving, etc.). I don't think the GPA will bring you down, but your standardized test scores must be up to par with MIT. Don't simply look at the range of the middle 50% and aim for that. You really want to be in the upper part of that range (close to or above the 75 percentile for at least two sections). To have a decent shot, MAKE SURE your math SAT section is really good (760+ or fewer than 2 wrong on the entire test). Try to get your total score over a 2200.
You definitely have a shot, and although many schools claim to be need-blind, I don't know if I trust that. I'm a high school senior and made sure I didn't apply for financial aid to improve my chances of admission, and I got into an Ivy League school. To raise your chances, definitely do something distinguishing this summer. Try to find a nice internship or research fellowship, or any research experience. Look into the Garcia Program at Stony Brook University. The kids who do that usually do well with college admissions, especially at MIT because it specializes in Engineering and Materials Science, but getting into that program is almost as tough as getting into MIT.
