RO/DI UNIT vs. AQUA SAFE TREATED TAP WATER FOR SEA SALT MIXING?
I realize that a RO/DI unit is my best bet in the long run but I can't afford that right now. I just want to know is treating tap water with Aqua Safe and then using that water to mix my salt ok. I plan on buying a 35 gallon poly tank to store my mixed water If this procedure is ok. My dealer is charging $1.40 gallon for RO/DI salt water. So it would be cheaper for me to mix it myself. A RO/DI unit cost about $150 and then I would have to buy 2 poly tanks which also run $100 plus.

RO/DI is far superior for mixing saltwater. Saltwater mixes come with everything you need to fully constitute the water chemistry needed, so starting with as pure water as possible is a very good idea. Tap water treated with Aquasafe is only removing chlorine and such, leaving all of the dissolved organics and such behind.
