Ski diving alone how much$ and what do i have to do?

i want to ski dive alone and i was just wondering how much a parashoot and all the other equipment would cost along with the lessons and can that same parashoot be used for base jumping oh and one you done everything and bought everything how much would a plane ride up cost

§150 and 5 hour training..

Traditionally recreational scuba divers have carried a depth gauge, dive watch and dive tables to dive to a plan, but the advent of low-cost computers designed to monitor depth and time on a second to second basis means that divers can now have longer dives, and if correctly used, stand much less chance of suffering a diving related injury.

The way in which divers using the standard tables dive, compared with how divers using a dive computer is slightly, but significantly different, due to the fact that in the former the whole dive is planned on the maximum depth reached.

For example, using the PADI tables to dive to 30 metres (100 feet) the no-decompression time is 25 minutes. That means that the total time from starting the decent to the point at which ascent begins can be no longer than 25 minutes, and at 42 metres (140 feet) the no-decompression time is just 10 minutes – considering that you are always advised to dive conservatively and so not to the limits of the tables in reality your dives would be even shorter.

However a dive computer works differently. Rather than base the dive time on the maximum depth reached, it continually computes the theoretical nitrogen absorbed by different parts of the body. This means that although a maximum depth of 30 metres may be reached during the dive, if much of the dive is at a shallower depth then the body's absorption of nitrogen will be much less than that assumed by the dive table.

To return to the example of a 42 metre (140 feet) dive, which gives a maximum bottom time of 10 minutes if diving to the limit of the table, I'd like show how a real dive to the same depth using a computer can give a much longer dive time. My deepest dive last summer was in Cap de Creus (Costa Brava, Spain), to a depth of 42.1 metres according to my computer.

The maximum depth was reached nearly nine minutes into the dive and I remained at that depth for about two minutes and then ascended slowly to about 30 metres for 5 minutes. Slowly ascending again, much of the remainder of the dive was completed at a depth of 15 metres, before ascending to 5 metres for a safety stop and then breaking the surface, a total dive time of 45 minutes.

That illustrates how diving with a computer can dramatically increase your dive time without requiring decompression stops and provided you don't dive to the limits of the computer, complete safety stops when required and ascend slowly you can enjoy more time under the surface enjoying the sport you love.

Here is our web-site http://www.skysthelimit.net/

Since man first invented the floating craft, celestial bodies have been used as reliable navigation guides for mariners and sea-going adventurers. Primitive societies did not have sophisticated equipment and gadgets to guide their way during a long sea voyage. They used celestial bodies as points of reference when they traveled by sea. Fortunately today, there are lots of gadgets and equipment that can be used for sea travel. You can also get a copy of the Nautical Almanac which is a major reference for mariners in identifying celestial bodies. Even if you are just cruising along Belize and the coast of Mexico, you still need charts and the Almanac so you will not get lost at sea.

The Nautical Almanac is officially published by the United States Naval Observatory. Only one publisher, the Paradise Cay Publications, is legally mandated to publish the Nautical Almanac. Fortunately, you can get a copy of the 2009 edition of the almanac from Seabreeze Nautical Books and Charts in San Diego. The 2009 Nautical Almanac that you can buy from Seabreeze bookstore contains the exact data and information that you can find from the almanac published by the United States government. So you are assured that you can get accurate, factual, and precise descriptions and locations of different celestial bodies for navigation at sea. If you have this book, you will never lose your way when you travel by sea.

The Almanac is the major cornerstone of all celestial navigation. It has a complete listing of all stars and constellations that are used to guide your way while at sea. Aside from the locations of different celestial bodies, the Almanac also provides valuable information, guides, and tools for all offshore navigators and mariners. So you should ensure that you have a copy of the Almanac before you leave any port. You have to know how to read the celestial bodies because your equipment and gadgets such as GPS can fail at anytime. Without your electronic maritime gadgets, you will sail blindly and this can be very dangerous. But if you know how to read the celestial bodies, then you can safely find land and not lose your way at sea.

Aside from the 2009 Nautical Almanac, you should also have a copy of the Belize and Mexico cruising guide. This maritime guide comes in book format. You can also purchase this navigation manual for Belize and Mexico cruising from Seabreeze Nautical Books and Charts. Specifically, the Cruising Guide to Belize and Mexico's Caribbean has 133 pages of map sketches, aerial photograph of the entire area, and map guide. The Belize Mexico cruising manual also provides valuable information about great offshore and inland tourist sites, dive spots, and historical places. So you will have a complete cruise manual if you get a copy of this book.

Being a mariner is not a simple job. You need to grasp the essentials of navigation and become familiar with the celestial bodies for guiding your trip. You need not start from scratch because you can easily get a Nautical Almanac and cruising guides and charts from Seabreeze bookstore.

Get the most updated navigation charts and guide for Belize Mexico cruise. You can also get an official copy of Nautical Almanac from our website so you can grasp the essentials of celestial navigation.

When selecting a scuba mask it is essential that it fits your face well to ensure that it is both comfortable and leak free. Without a good seal against the face you may spend much of your time clearing the mask of water, while an uncomfortable mask detracts from your diving experience - both lead to enjoying your dives less but because they distract you from your environment they are also potentially unsafe.

Finding a mask that fits your face well is a simple matter and can be tested with the following three-step procedure:

1. Place the mask on your face but with the strap placed out of the way.

2. Inhale slightly through the nose so that the slight vacuum holds the mask on your face.

3. Test the fit by gently moving your head and it should remain in place if you gently try and pull it away from your face.

At the end of this test you will have determined whether a scuba mask fits your face well or not, so now it is time to examine other features.

Style

Most masks on the market today have low internal volume, which means that the mask is more comfortable to use since the diver won't experience much mask squeeze during the dive. This style of mask is now usual and features a pocket for the nose that protrudes forward of the lenses and as well as low volume the large lenses allow for a wider field of view, but models to look for include Cressi Big-Eyes, although it is not suitable for all face shapes.

Colour

This is purely a matter of personal preference and you may not have any preference at all. The traditional colour for masks, and all dive equipment in fact, was black due to the use of neoprene. These days silicone is used instead for masks, which is more flexible and less susceptible to sun damage. Silicone can be supplied transparent or in a multitude of shades due to the use of colouring agents, but many people still choose black. However, some people claim masks made with transparent silicone give better visibility due to the greater amount of light allowed to enter.

Skirt

High quality scuba masks feature a silicone skirt that thins towards the edge, allowing for a better and more comfortable fit against the skin of the face. Often you'll see a second skirt inside the upper edge of the skirt that allows a better seal. Its absence at the bottom is to allow water to drain more easily from inside the mask.

Strap

There are many occasions when you'll need to adjust your mask strap and so ensure that you find the mask easy to adjust. If you wear gloves when diving then make sure you can adjust it quickly and easily with gloves on. And while on the subject of mask straps, remember to always carry a spare - it is one of the more common equipment failures and the lack of a spare may mean you have to remain on the boat when everyone else is enjoying the submarine world.

Those are the most important factors to consider both when buying a new scuba mask or using rental equipment from a dive center. By ensuring a good fit you ensure your own comfort and safety while a combination of the other factors will mean you get many happy years of service from your scuba mask.

is there a balanced 2nd stage regulator?

2nd stage scuba diving regulator

Aqualung's Titan series, and Legend series are both balanced diaphram designs.

Diving is a fun and popular sport. However, there are some steps every diver should follow to ensure he has a safe dive.

Scuba Diving Safety Rules

  • Get proper training - Being comfortable underwater will go a long way towards having a safe dive. Proper training is one key to being comfortable underwater. The beginning of proper training is to get your open water certification. If you go diving in caves, caverns, wrecks, etc., you should also have the proper training for this type of dive. Don't dive beyond your ability.
  • Never dive alone - Always dive with a buddy no matter where you are. This is key. When you do dive with a buddy, keep an eye on him/her to make sure everything is OK (and hopefully they are doing the same). If something happens, that buddy can be the difference between life and death. Never violate this rule. Also do a pre-dive equipment check with your buddy.
  • Be in good physical shape - You don't have to be a triathlete but you should be able to swim and take the stress of diving. A physical exam is a good idea before diving.
  • Don't hold your breath - Remember to always breathe slowly and in a relaxed manner and to exhale fully. Don't take short, shallow breathes and never hold your breath. Holding your breath underwater can lead to lung injuries and worse, in the extreme case.
  • Ascend slowly and with control - As you ascend you are ridding your body of nitrogen in your tissues and bloodstream. If you ascend too quickly, you risk decompression sickness. Always do a safety stop at 15 feet for at least 3 minutes after deeper dives. After your safety stop, do not propel yourself to the surface either. Ascend that last 15 feet very slowly also.
  • Check your equipment - Checking equipment is especially important if you are renting. If you own your regulator and haven't dove in a while, it should also be serviced to make sure it is working properly. Do a check of the regulator hoses also.
  • Relax - Being relaxed and comfortable underwater is key to a successful dive. If something happens, stop, breathe, think and act. Do not panic and rush to the surface. But observing this safety rule could be key to a safe dive.
  • Plan your dive and dive your plan - You will hear this in your training (or you should) and you should follow this advice. Prior to going under, you and your buddy should know the max depth you will go, the amount of bottom time you'll have and how much air you will start to ascend with. Check your air supply often. You should also agree on the hand signals you will use to communicate underwater.

This is just the beginning of scuba diving safety rules. However, if you follow the above list you increase your chances of a safe dive.

Have a safe dive,

Dianne Rein from http://www.scuba-diving-smiles.com

Dianne Rein runs a scuba diving website and has traveled all over the Caribbean looking for the best place to scuba dive. You can read her full article on scuba diving safety on her website. You will also find scuba diving equipment information on her website along with much more information.

Scuba diving equipment is designed to overcome the limits of human physiology in the submarine world and although the number of items may seem daunting to the beginner, everything has a clear purpose. Below we look at the main items of scuba diving equipment used in recreational diving.

Mask

Divers wear a face mask for the simple fact that it allows them to see underwater. The human eye is not designed to see in water, which has a different optical density to air. By simply having an air space between eyes and water the mask allows the diver to see, although the optical density means that all objects appear larger or closer when underwater. Traditionally masks were constructed from neoprene, which tended to age relatively quickly. Today's scuba masks generally consist of a lightweight plastic frame, glass lenses and a silicone rubber skirt that seals against the face. Modern masks also allow a smaller volume of air between the water and the face, which is an advantage because it means it is easier to equalize the pressure in the mask and simpler to clear of water.

Wet suit

While a wet suit is the most common type of suit worn in recreational diving, it is not the only type. Primarily to prevent the diver from losing body heat to the water, which conducts heat from the body at a much faster rate than air, a wet suit consists of a layer of low density neoprene which acts as an insulator and traps a thin layer of water between the neoprene and the diver's skin, also helping to minimize heat loss. The secondary function of a wet suit is to protect the diver from abrasions and other injuries, including stings and venoms.

When the water is too cold for a wet suit to be used divers can wear a dry suit, which as the name implies keeps the diver dry by sealing at the neck and wrists, while in warmer water divers can wear a lycra body suit which provides no thermal protection, but prevents against scrapes and stings as well as sunburn.

Fins

In the same way that fish glide through the water by moving their fins, scuba divers are able to propel themselves through the water by kicking their fins. Usually made of neoprene for the foot and rigid plastic for the blade, there are two main types; full foot and adjustable. With the former the diver simply places the boot of the fin over the bare foot, while adjustable fins have an adjustable heel strap and are usually worn over wet suit boots.

Scuba tanks

The scuba tank – also commonly known as a cylinder or a bottle – contains the divers breathing gas at high pressure. Usually the breathing gas is air, although in some circumstances other mixtures are also used.

The standard configuration in recreational scuba diving today attaches the tank to the BCD (buoyancy control device), often known simply as a jacket. The tank is attached to the rigid backplate with an adjustable strap and the BCD is then worn like a waistcoat and fastened at the front with a cummerbund.

As well as providing harnessing the scuba tank, the BCD is designed to allow the diver to adjust buoyancy in the water by either adding or reducing the amount of air held inside. Many modern BCDs also have pockets to hold lead weights, traditionally worn on a belt around the waist.

Regulators

The first stage regulator is attached to the top of the tank and reduces the pressure from the tank to supply the second stage as well as providing the air for BCD inflation. The latter supplies the diver with air at ambient pressure and is located in the mouthpiece on most modern equipment.

Scuba diving computers

Until relatively recently divers used tables to plan their dives, designed to reduce the possibility of decompression sickness. A depth gauge a dive watch were essential items to ensure the dive was within the limits of the table.

While divers are still taught dive table theory, most recreational divers quickly move on to buying a dive computer, which effectively calculates a custom table for each dive. More sophisticated models also connect to the air supply, so that they act as timer, depth gauge and air pressure monitor all in one.

David Leigh usually dives year round in the Costa Brava in Catalonia. You can find more information about scuba diving equipment at http://www.CostaBravaScubaDiving.com

Scuba Diving?

I'm very interested in Marine Biology and I would love to learn how to scuba dive. Does anyone know which scuba school organisations I should consider and about how much the gear costs?

I just finished my basic certification through PADI. They are the most widespread certifying agency, but there is also NAUI, SSI, BSAC. You can find dive shops and course listings on their websites (www.padi.com). My certification course and dives cost $275.

Most courses will require you to purchase your own mask & snorkel and they will provide the rest as part of the course. My mask & snorkel cost about $90. After one pool dive I also bought my own fins & booties, which was another $150. You'll probably want to buy all your equipment that needs to be personally fit - mask, booties, fins, wetsuit, gloves, etc. But there's certainly no rush in doing it, you can rent all that stuff anywhere you'd want to dive (a full set up minus the tanks for 4 days at my local dive shop costs $30).

Preparation for a Scuba Diving Vacation (things to think about) Should you decide to have a holiday and go for a diving vacation, then you will need to know a few things that you should do to ensure that your planning is done effectively. From learning scuba basics and getting your body conditioned for diving, to having fun in the process - these are some of the important things you need to be ready for. Now read on and discover some ideal diving vacation tips:

Swim as often as you can. Whether you're in your pool in the backyard, at the health club, or training at school, be sure to practice swimming so that you will know how to get around underwater quickly. While your vacation is supposed to be a fun time, you will need to know how to get out of harm's way naturally, so swimming practice is definitely a good idea. Getting comfortable with the way you move in the water is also ideal when you're trying to learn to scuba. You may also want to swim underwater with your scuba gear  so that you can get used to wearing the gear when you're underwater in a larger body of water.

Get the best diving gear. Don't wait until the last minute to get the scuba equipment that you need - shop around at your local Pro Dive Shops (namely K2 Scuba)  & stores for dry suits and diving gear well before it is time for you to go on your trip. This way, you can try the equipment out before taking a trip and finding a defect. You can also shop online for diving vacation items, so be careful buying essential dive equipment from Ebay unless you have ample time to check it out.

Taking diving lessons - as many times as you need to. While taking scuba diving lessons is necessary if you're going to be taking a diving vacation, don't be afraid to take lessons more than one time. You want to make sure that you're enjoying yourself on your vacation, and you can't do that if you're constantly worried about how you're doing while you're swimming. It usually takes about two months for you to complete all the courses that are required in order to be a qualified scuba diver, so don't be afraid to ask questions and practice until you feel comfortable.

Figure out what type of diving you want to do. Taking the basic scuba diving lessons is essential, but you may want to broaden your interests so you can find out just what you want to do on your diving holiday. For instance, if wreck diving interests you, then try to get enrolled in some courses that will teach you how to dive through wrecked ships and artifacts to find treasure. If you're into technical diving, take a course or two that teaches you to hold your breath for long periods of time and swim with precision. And, if free diving is more your speed, learning how to play hockey or rugby underwater may be your idea of a great diving vacation.

We are what a dive shoppe should be. Come in and feel unhurried, unrushed and a genuine gladness at your presence.

Buoyancy Compensator
in what ways are fish bladders and buoyancy compensator vests similar?plzz help asap it's grade 8 science!!

as they fill or release air it will control where you are in the water. It is a lot harder for a fish, the fish have to get the air from their blood stream because they do not have lungs. Taking in air is harder because it is via their blood and they cannot release the air as fast as buoyancy compensator vests.

Include all of this information and you should do fine.

This information came from a marine biology professor.

Scuba diving has been a popular pastime since the 1940s. It was noted seaman and adventurer Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Emile Gagnan who first created the Aqua-Lung, which was the first type of commercially available scuba diving equipment. Denver divers will discover that today's modern scuba equipment, which can be found at Colorado scuba diving equipment suppliers, utilizes wet or dry suits, buoyancy control features and some type of breathing apparatus.

The type of suit you will wear depends on the water temperature in which you will use your divers equipment. Colorado diving enthusiasts that are visiting balmy Mexico or the Cayman Islands will find water temperatures near eighty degrees. They will wear a full-body or short wet suit as the basis of their Denver diving gear. These types of suits that can be found at Boulder dive equipment stores allow a thin layer of water to enter inside the rubber layer, and this aqueous layer helps to keep you warm. In very warm waters from the low eighties to ninety degrees, you could wear nothing but bare skin or a lighter weight nylon wet suit as part of your diving equipment. Denver divers who are swimming in colder waters, with temperatures below seventy degrees will need a dry suit as part of their divers equipment. Colorado scuba divers use this suit to warm the body with an air layer inside the suit. Your suit may also come with gloves or boots, or possibly a vest or hood. If you are starting out, you may not be sure about selecting diver's equipment. Colorado scuba stores can offer excellent advice and help you select appropriate gear.

A buoyancy compensator is also used as part of your scuba gear. Denver divers often wear a specialized vest that increases or decreases air pressure and may also include lead weights. These are necessary to keep you at the appropriate water depth when you are underwater in your Boulder dive equipment.

You will also need the appropriate breathing gear as part of your complete Denver diving gear package. Divers breathe compressed air or a nitrogen-oxygen mix that is carried in tanks on your back as the heart of their divers equipment. Colorado scuba divers understand that A regulator is attached to the tank, and it controls the air pressure coming out of the tank so that it is at a level safe for breathing. There are two parts to a regulator. The first stage is connected to the air tank, and the second stage connects by hose to the first stage, and includes the mouthpiece through which you inhale the air. There are also pony tanks and spare air units for emergency air supplies and a snorkel for breathing when you are near the water surface to conserve air in your tanks that you will want to include with your Boulder dive equipment.

It is complex to get outfitted correctly when you are starting out, so be sure to contact a qualified Colorado scuba diving equipment supplier, who can assist in helping you select the appropriate gear for your specific diving situations.

Wayne Hemrick writes about where to find scuba gear. Denver Colorado scuba diving equipment suppliers can assist in helping you select the appropriate gear for your specific diving situations.

It can be an exciting or terrifying experience - buying your first scubadiving gear. When you first walk into the Aladdin's cave just groaning with the latest dive technology, your question is likely to be "Where do I possibly start?" The answer is quite simple. Choose your dive centre very carefully - then, if you enjoyed your scubadiving course, trust them to outfit you with the best dive gear for your type of diving.

When you select your dive centre start by establishing the credentials of it. Generally, the more status the dive centre has, the more it has been audited for quality and customer service. If possible, choose a PADI 5 Star Career Development Centre. Failing that, try a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre and so on down the retail status list. Other training agencies have similar ratings. Word of mouth is another very strong indicator as most people tell others about a bad experience.

After you have completed your course, unless you are totally focused and do it beforehand, you will want to buy your our scubadiving gear. There are literally thousands of different dive items on the market and each scuba retailer offers a selective few brands. Normally these equipment lines are complementary so that the dive centre should be able to satisfy novice or experienced recreational divers through to highly experienced technical divers. If you are about to buy your own scuba gear take time to read our advice.

Probably the most critical dive equipment is the regulator and buoyancy control device BCD) combination. The regulator should be selected on performance and reliability, that is ease of breathing at the depths you intend to dive to. Do a careful price

comparison if your budget is critical. Your scuba dive centre retailer will guide you here.

A BCD must be comfortable but most importantly it must be able to lift your face clear of the water at the surface. The inflator mechanism must be easy and fast to operate. Check the lift of a BCD before you start loading the integrated weight system up with lead weight. While it may lift you wearing a wetsuit, it may be overloaded once you take it off to pass it (with any integrated weight & cylinder) into the boat. Recreational BCDs are not designed for technical diving and should not be used for

that purpose.

You will need to consider your instruments as well. Whatever your financial position you will need a submersible pressure gauge (SPG) and compass. It may be cheaper to purchase a dive computer rather than a depth gauge and timer / underwater watch. Dive computers show dive and surface interval details as well as guiding your ascent speed.

Some give integrated information on nitrogen absorption and gas consumption. With a computer it is easy to retrieve dive information so you can log your dive. There are also Nitrox computers for sport divers and multiple gas computers for tech divers. Get your dive instruments in a console for easy reference.

For regulators BCDs and instruments, check the warrantee. If you intend to travel, it should be worldwide. Some offer lifetime warrantees for parts. Beware buying product over the Internet, as there may be no warrantee. In many countries, scuba dealers will not honour internet warrantees, as the product was not bought through a licenced dealer and ownership is hard to authenticate.

You will want to stay warm and may only need a shorty wetsuit in the tropics. As you move further away from the equator, you might need a full length 5mm or 7mm wetsuit or even a drysuit. Try to buy the best you can afford as you will not enjoy even the most spectacular dive if you are trying to stay warm. Night diving is fantastic - only if you are warm. Comfort and fit are critical.

When you select your dive mask try every one on display. Ssniff in hard and listen for air leaks to ensure an exact fit. Additionally, press the mask in over your nose and brow to ensure there is no contact. Some mask lenses can be changed for prescription lenses. If you wear glasses ask your scuba dealer which ones will take prescription lenses. Identify the dive masks that fit then try those few again. When you get to the

best two, choose the cheaper one. If your mask does not fit well, you will not enjoy your scuba diving. Resist the temptation to buy a cheap snorkel. You need a good one so you can breathe on the surface face down. Accept the dive centre retailer's advice.

Fins are your propellers. Get fins that fit your feet properly, without placing pressure on your toes or the bridge of your foot. Always wear your own dive booties when trying on fins. Split fin technology is state-of-the-art now and worth every cent.

Try for a soft or medium flex fin. If you want to be a technical diver, select firmer split fins. Get spring straps if your retailer has them.

You will need weight unless you are negatively buoyant at the surface. When you purchase your BCD, consider one that allows you to carry weight in the BCD weight pockets rather than around your waist. Many women do get minor bruising on the hips through wearing heavy weight belts. With a drysuit you will generally need more weight than you would with a wetsuit. Contoured weights are preferable to slab weights.

You are now set to have fantastic scubadiving adventures. Enjoy the freedom of gliding in the ocean current along coral encrusted walls, through underwater canyons, exploring

timeless shipwrecks or absorbing the stillness and tranquillity of a freshwater lake. Wherever you are, you will enjoy your scuba diving if you are confidant that you have chosen your scubadiving gear wisely.

Scuba Equipment

SCUBA diving equipment and prices ; and the best kind of boat and approx price for SCUBA diving?

I am studying to be a marine biologist and I am going for my SCUBA certifications, but I need approximate pricing before i go so i can get my equipment. I will be living in Florida soon, so I intend to get a boat so when I am qualified I can go out on dives. I am looking for boats and equipments i can look for fish, coral reefs, marine wildlife in general, also I am interested in ship wrecks. So I need an approximate pricing, websites and the equipment, and types of boats. I want the best equipment.

Look to spend around 10 thousand on dive equipment if you want to be a marine biologist, boats and equipment tend to be specific to the type of diving you will be doing. I recommend that you finish getting certified prior to purchasing very much equipment. Any good dive shop will allow you to test out your equipment prior to purchasing, everyone has their own personal preferences and until you become relaxed and comfortable in the water you probably wont have any idea about what you like or it will change as you learn. As for boats, there are many types to choose from, most of which will depend on the conditions you expect to work in and how physically able you are to climb into them from the water, look at other people in your profession and glean tips from them as far as deck space for equipment, power and style. You can also make or obtain modifications to any boat to better suit the work you will be performing. Either way you should expect to spend a lot of money, and last time I checked marine biologists don't get paid very much and they usually work with a university which already has that sort of equipment or off of grants.
