What brand of scuba/snorkel gear do I buy?
I would like to purchase a mask and some fins. I want to make sure I get good quality. Are there certain brands I should especially look into, or perhaps avoid?

In a nutshell though: for your mask
1. It needs to have a silicone skirt (stay away from PVC and a material called silflex as these are just plain awful to use. The skirt stiffens in cooler water which will affect the fit.
2. Get one with a tempered glass lens. The word tempered will be printed directly on the lenses. Plastic lenses scratch too easily and if you ever want to go scuba diving, Masks with tempered glass lenses are needed for that.
