Scuba diving is prohibited for asthma sufferers in some countries but not others. Why? Should asthma sufferers risk ignoring this rule? Either scuba diving is dangerous to an asthma sufferer, or it is safe. Why this confusion?
Insurance Companies Make the Rules
Depending on which country you are in, you may scuba dive to your heart's content -- or not. The simple answer is that insurance companies make the rules. Countries with high insurance coverage are less likely to allow scuba diving for asthma sufferers as they will not be covered for the risk: the fact that most asthma sufferers are at no greater risk than any other person while scuba diving is not considered relevant. Insurance policies work on a hypothetical basis, not necessarily on facts. Stats from last year on scuba diving accidents show that only one of the 5,000 reported was attributed to having had an asthma attack in an underwater environment.
Insurance companies have taken advice from doctors. Doctors base their recommendations on the presumption that if one were to have an asthma attack while under water, he wouldn't know how to breathe. They state "The limiting factor for asthmatics is adequate ventilatory capacity underwater." This is a sweeping statement and is certainly not true for all asthma sufferers. It puts everyone who has asthma into the one category, not taking into account that where asthma is concerned, people's needs and abilities vary hugely.
Asthma is Unique to an Individual
It ignores asthma is unique to each individual, affecting people in different ways. Some people get asthma from being near perfume and are perfectly OK in cold water. Some are triggered by dust while being absolutely fine in dry air. It is impossible to generalize what is likely to cause an asthma attack as no two cases are the same.
The perceived problem is the cold air breathed in by the diver. Then there are individuals who are prone to strong emotions -- they may be in a high state of fear or excitement. These emotions are in the general public and can be controlled drug-free with guidance and practice. Asthma sufferers may look for successful alternative methods for controlling their asthma. Breathing methods have been brought into the mainstream in recent years: research done in Russia has brought relief to millions of people world wide: yoga has helped countless people live full lives again. It would be good to see more conventional medical practitioners become aware of these drug-free benefits. How much effort does it take to look up a website with an alternative solution about how to cure asthma the natural way?
Now visit website http://www.BeWellAgain.com/cure-asthma... where Megan offers help to asthma sufferers with information about asthma triggers and dealing with asthma attacks plus finding the natural resources to cure asthma.

What is the difference between a wetsuit for scuba diving, surfing, and kitesurfing?
I don't understand the difference between wetsuits and the differences. I scuba dive, surf, and kite surf, and want someone to explain the type of wetsuit I would want for each. Also, what do the numbers 4/3 etc mean when you are talking about a wetsuit? Thanks for the help. Points for the best answer.
First of all, if you are already diving, surfing, Kite-surfing etc., why don't you talk to the people in the dive or surf shops that you do business with. They are full of great information, and they know far more about local water temperatures and conditions than we do out here in cyberspace. We don't know you, or where you surf & dive.
There are really three types of wet suits that I know of. Surfing wet suits have a greater degree of flexibility at the joints and have a back zipper (so your are not chafing on a zipper when laying on your belly paddling). Scuba suits tend to have less flexibility, often come in thicker versions and more often zip up the front, so a zipper doesn't chafe you back from your backpack and tank. General purpose wet suits are a little rarer, but they are what of jet skiers and kayakers wear. Although all of the jet skiers and kayakers I know personally wear suits originally designed for either surfing or diving.
When I started surfing and diving 43 years ago, we all wore the same wet suits for both swimming and diving. Of course Mr. O'Neill revolutionized the industry, and things are the way today. Unfortunately, I had to stop diving in the 70s, but I still surf year round, and wear a variety of wet suits.
As much as design is a consideration, the difference in thickness makes a big difference in the application of a wet suit. As I guy who used to dive, I know there is a considerable in heat body heat loss at 100 feet diving than there is sitting on the surface surfing. The numbers that you mentioned, are thicknesses expressed in milimeters. So a 4/3 has some 4 mil neoprene, and some 3 mil neoprene. The thinnner stuff is usually used at flex points.
The only way to get the "right" wet suit is at a dive or surf or sport shop, where you take the time to try on different models. Every manufactuer's sizing varies slightly, and proper fit is important.
Your 'Best Answer' won't come from anybody on line. Like I said, talk to the local guys who can tell you what is popular in your area and what works best for your area. I could tell you exactly what type and thickness suits I wear in different seasons, but how would that help you? Good luck.

As they say, 'one trip to Bali is never enough'. Vast, seemingly endless beaches, beautiful tropical landscapes, the fascinating culture, amazingly hospitable people and shopping for local crafts continue to attract repeat visitors to Bali, time and time again.
However, as I have been discovering in my recent trips, staying at Mia Villa Bali Rental, there is more to this tropical paradise than meets the eye.
Today you can also add to my list above, the attraction of a myriad of activities catering to both the action oriented holiday maker and the more staid.
Here is a starter list of 10 new things you may want to try when you are next in Bali:
1) Bird Park
You don't need to be a bird watcher to enjoy this colourful park. Take a morning off, and discover the beauty of an array of tropical birds Bali has to offer. Even better, arrive later in the afternoon, and enjoy some amazing sun-set melodies. A great choice for enthusiasts and families. (located at Taman Burung - open 08:00 – 18:00 daily)
2) Cruising
Pick a boat of your choice, and head for the high seas! Nowadays Bali has a great selection of safe boats to choose from. Go for a fun filled family outing or go more adventurous with some of the latest cutting edge crafts which deliver the speed. (Bali Hai Cruises, Sea Safari Cruises, Bounty Cruises)
3) Dance Performances
Be enthralled by unique Balinese dances! Try to catch one of each of: Kecak, Legong and Fire Dances, at least. There are dozens of different troupes to choose from, each with their own following. Keep in mind, shows in hotels and tourist restaurants offer vanilla flavour, and sometimes mechanical re-creations of the real thing. Head out to some of the villages, and you will be handsomely rewarded with the authentic fare.
4) Designer Shopping
No, I am not talking about the 'fake originals' that litter the streets of many other Asian locations. In the recent years, Bali has attracted some of the most talented original designers, and artists from around the world (both the East and the West). This coupled with the inherent artistic capabilities of the Balinese, means that Bali today enjoys a large number of original designer shops. You can find anything from post-modern lighting installations, to Imperial Chinese style sideboards, and from original water fountain designs to some of the best jewelry designed and manufactured anywhere in the world.
5) Diving
Put your PADI license to use, or if you are a diving newbie, just do it, and get your PADI certificate in Bali! A range of dive organizers for the experienced, and dive schools for the new comers are available to choose from. Some offer PADI 'Youth Scuba' courses for ages 5+.
6) Dolphin Watching
Enjoy these all-time favourites in their natural habitat. They are at their best first thing in the morning. Also, the soft hues of the sun-rise provide amazing colours for the photography enthusiasts. However, you will need to plan ahead for this one, since Lovina is in the North of the island, and you will more than likely be staying in a hotel or a rental villa in the south.
7) Fishing
Go after that marlin or try your hand at yellow fin tuna! Most boats provide full tackle, bait and a running commentary, a friendly, giggly banter which makes the day out that much more enjoyable. (fishing boats from Benoa Harbour or Sanur)
Elephant Safari Park
Arguably, one of the best in South East Asia! Great location and landscaped gardens. Don't forget to do the elephant safari ride.
9) Jet Skiing
Re-create those favourite Baywatch moments! Due to their environmental impact, only available at some selected beaches across the island. (available at Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua).
10) Go-Karting
Only for those who get withdrawal symptoms from being away from the hustle and bustle of big-city life! All the noise, thrills and danger of the real thing! Choice of single or double carts.
Many happy returns!
